# auth.md — Daily Read Bytes agent access

## Audience

This document is for automated agents and API clients that want to discover how to access Daily Read Bytes.

## Public content access

No registration, API key, OAuth token, or bearer credential is required for the public read API documented at [https://dailyreadbytes.com/api-docs](https://dailyreadbytes.com/api-docs). The API catalog is available at [https://dailyreadbytes.com/.well-known/api-catalog](https://dailyreadbytes.com/.well-known/api-catalog).

Agents may also request a Markdown representation of HTML pages with `Accept: text/markdown` when Markdown for Agents is enabled for the site. Individual stories and Journals additionally have stable `.md` representations linked from their HTML pages.

## Authentication and provisioning

Daily Read Bytes does not currently issue credentials or offer agent account registration. Its browser-only account features (Google sign-in, likes, reactions, comments, and saved activity) use first-party browser sessions and are not a public agent API. Do not submit browser cookies or Google credentials to an agent integration.
