## The story

Incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva won Brazil’s presidential election in a stunning second‑round victory, securing a fourth term. Lula’s 51.79% share of the vote beat far‑right rival Flávio Bolsonaro’s 48.21%, a result that followed a two‑hour polling extension ordered by a supreme court judge. The win marks the first time a first‑round verdict has been overturned in Brazil, making Lula the country’s longest‑serving leader. Guardian correspondent Tom Phillips will field audience questions from 15:00 GMT, offering insight into Brazil’s political future. The election outcome follows accusations that Bolsonaro’s campaign sabotaged public transport to hinder voters, a claim that intensified the controversy.
