## The story

The orange dot that appears on the left side of a Samsung Galaxy Watch’s face is a notification indicator that stays visible until all unread alerts are cleared. When the dot turns red, it signals an urgent message that should be checked immediately. The feature is present on every recent Galaxy Watch model, including the Watch 8, Watch 9, and Ultra 2, and is part of Samsung’s minimalist design approach to conserve screen real estate. Users can turn the indicator off by navigating to Settings > Notifications > Advanced Settings on the watch, or through the Wearable app on a paired phone under Watch Settings > Notifications > Advanced notification settings. Other small icons on the watch provide quick status cues: a phone icon with a slash indicates a Bluetooth disconnection, a cloud rectangle shows mobile data or Wi‑Fi use, a padlock means the watch is locked, a blue music note reflects audio playback, and a green phone icon appears during calls. These symbols help users manage their device without needing to open the watch or phone. The orange dot’s simple design keeps users informed while keeping the watch face uncluttered.
