## The story

Prime Video has confirmed that the second season of its crime‑thriller adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s novel series will premiere in 2027. The eight‑episode first season, which debuted in early 2026, featured Nicole Kidman as forensic pathologist Dr. Kay Scarpetta and Jamie Lee Curtis as her sister Dorothy. Although the initial season struggled to find its footing, the platform announced a two‑season commitment before the premiere, indicating confidence in the show’s potential. Fans can expect the new season to continue the series’ blend of forensic science and personal drama, with Kidman returning to the lead role. The announcement comes as Prime Video expands its slate of original crime dramas, positioning Scarpetta alongside other high‑profile titles. No specific release date has been disclosed, but the window is slated for 2027, giving viewers ample time to anticipate the next chapter. The confirmation also underscores Prime Video’s strategy of securing multi‑season orders for promising series to maintain subscriber engagement. Viewers will need to keep an eye on official updates for the exact premiere date.
