## The story

Alan Shearer, former England striker, has publicly named German coach Fabian Hurzeler as his preferred choice to replace Manchester United’s current manager Michael Carrick. The recommendation came during a discussion on the Sky Sports “Paper Talk” program, where Shearer highlighted Hurzeler’s tactical acumen and experience in the Bundesliga. Carrick’s tenure has been under scrutiny after a 4‑1 defeat to Como in the Champions League, a result that prompted criticism from players such as Bruno Fernandes. United’s board may also consider other options, including the possibility of extending Lisandro Martinez’s contract by 12 months to recoup a fee. The club is also concerned about striker Benjamin Sesko’s injury status, which could sideline him until the new year. Meanwhile, Vinicius Junior has confirmed he will remain at Real Madrid, despite earlier reports of a move to Arsenal. The speculation underscores the urgency for United to secure a new manager before the next transfer window. Fans and analysts will watch closely as the club weighs the options and prepares for the upcoming season.
