A Polish bus carrying 57 pilgrims and two drivers crashed in eastern Hungary on Sunday, resulting in the deaths of at least a dozen people and serious injuries to 10 others. The bus veered off a motorway and tipped over, with survivors describing the scene as chaotic. Preliminary information suggests that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The driver has been taken into custody by police. Crash survivor Helena Wooek, who was injured in the crash, managed to pull two people to safety before collapsing. The bus was returning from a shrine in Bosnia.
Emergency crews are working to remove the wreckage.
